Almacantar is a property investment company specialising in large-scale, complex developments in Central London. Known for its design-led approach, the company focuses on creating long-term value through development, repositioning or active asset management.

Since it was launched in 2010 by Mike Hussey, Almacantar has acquired over 1.5 million sq ft of prime assets in the heart of London including live projects; Centre Point, Marble Arch Place, One and Two Southbank Place and Lyons Place.

Jonathan Evans

Asset Management and Leasing Director

Jonathan EvansJonathan Evans

Jonathan joined Almacantar in 2016 as Office Leasing Director and brings over 30 years’ experience in developing and leasing mixed-use developments in Central London.

During his career he has worked both as an advisor and principal, having spent 16 years as lead Director of the West End leasing teams at JLL and DTZ and was also Head of Asset and Property Management for the London Office Portfolio at Land Securities.

Jonathan has held a number of senior posts in the property industry including Vice Chairman of the Westminster Property Association; Chairman of the Office Agents Society; member of the BCO Research Board; member of the Mayor of London’s Office Review Panel and member of the Family Office Real Estate Advisors Forum.


Gavin Sinnott

With over 20 years' of experience in the property and construction industry, Gavin has in-depth knowledge of the sector.

Prior to joining Almacantar in 2016, Gavin worked at M3 Consulting where he worked on a variety of projects, from feasibility through to delivery and occupation. His projects have ranged from small fit-outs to large-scale mixed-use schemes including Broadgate Circle, One Carter Lane, 199 Bishopsgate, 100 Liverpool Street, Streatham Hub, Edmonton Green and Chapelfield Norwich..

Gavin graduated from City University with a degree in Civil Engineering and began his career as a consulting engineer working on a variety of brownfield mixed-use regeneration and infrastructure projects around the UK.


Geoff Taylor

Geoff brings extensive experience in design, construction and procurement, after a career spanning nearly 10 years in structural design and over 25 years in development and project management for client organisations.

Before joining Almacantar, Geoff was Project Director at Land Securities, where he completed c£1.3bn of capital projects, including BBC Broadcasting House, BBC Pacific Quay and 500,000 sq.ft for the Ministry of Justice in Victoria.

Prior to Land Securities, Geoff worked as Director of Development and Construction at Wembley National Stadium. Earlier roles have taken him as far afield as Iran, Iraq, Dubai, Germany, Portugal, Australia, India, Greece and Turkey.

Geoff is a chartered civil engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and a graduate of Harvard Business School. He enjoys the complexity of large-scale development projects and has an instinct for getting to the heart of the matter quickly.


James Waite

With a focus on managing teams to deliver an exceptional end product, James brings a key skill set as developments progress from feasibility, through the planning process and onto construction and launch.

James joined Almacantar in November 2012 from Land Securities, where he was a Project Manager in their London Portfolio working on residential and commercial developments.

A Chartered Surveyor by background, James was involved in high profile schemes at Land Securities, including Victoria Transport Interchange, Wellington House and Kingsgate House, and led all aspects of construction to secure delivery of the project as well as managing key stakeholder interfaces.

Prior to Land Securities, James worked for Jones Lang LaSalle and delivered schemes for both occupier and investor clients including Deutsche Bank, Bank of America, SWIP and Sun Microsystems.


Chris Ruffle

Chris has significant experience in the field of Development, Post Contract Project Management, Project Controls, and Contract Administration, as well as a great track record of delivering highly complex schemes from inception all the way through to completion. He is a Chartered Surveyor by background and has a deep understanding of the London market.

Chris joined Almacantar in 2016 from Arcadis where he led their London Residential and Commercial Project Management teams. During his time at Arcadis, Chris delivered Land Securities’ flagship developments Kingsgate and 62 Buckingham Gate in Victoria, managing all aspects of construction through to completion. At Almacantar, Chris has overseen the end-to-end delivery of Lyons Place, Almacantar’s boutique residential scheme in Maida Vale and is currently working on Almacantar’s latest mixed-use development, Marble Arch Place.


Caroline Edwards

Caroline specialises in the planning, design and delivery of large-scale mixed-use projects. Her expertise lies in bringing diverse stakeholders together to unlock the maximum development potential of a site.

Prior to joining Almacantar in 2018, Caroline spent 12 years at the Aga Khan University where she managed the development of new campuses across East Africa and South Asia. Key projects include, the establishment of a regional campus and University Town on a 3,200 acre site in Tanzania and a 600-bed Tertiary Teaching Hospital in Uganda.

Caroline holds a degree in Urban Studies from Brown University and a Masters in Urban Planning from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.


Matthew Abbott

Matthew Abbott

Matthew joined Almacantar in 2019 with over 20 years of property experience spanning acquisition, investment, development and asset management across a diverse range of projects including office, hotel, retail, residential and PBSA both in the UK and overseas in Hong Kong and China.

At Almacantar, Matthew is responsible for development management on Marble Arch Place with a primary focus on its office, retail and leisure components and he also oversees the appraisal of new development opportunities.

His prior roles include working for private equity funds, corporates as well as working for privately-held developers.

Matthew holds a degree in Chemistry from The University of Leeds and speaks Mandarin.


Brooke Collins

Brooke is part of Almacantar’s Development team and a member of the RICS. Since joining Almacantar as a graduate in 2016, Brooke quickly secured her chartership in 2018 and has gone on to develop a well-rounded skill-set with experience across the full spectrum of development. From planning, design development, construction, handover, and sales, Brooke seeks to create value through good design and a real “hands-on” management approach.

Brooke has a particular specialism for complex mixed use developments and was responsible for managing the creation of Almacantar’s flagship boutique development on Edgware Road, “Lyons Place”. Alongside her day to day Development Management duties, Brooke has also overseen the design and dressing of an award winning show-home as well as a flagship Townhouse unit in the same development.

Ria Hardy

Over the past few years Ria has gained an extensive knowledge of all aspects within the Central London property sector, its intricacies, and its challenges and as a result is involved with Almacantar’s most complex projects.

Ria joined Almacantar in 2017. As a member of the Development team, she has gained extensive knowledge of all aspects of the Central London property sector. Ria obtained her chartership in 2019 and she is now involved in some of Almacantar’s most complex projects. Her main objective is to drive value and mitigate risks from planning through construction and to completion.

At Almacantar, Ria is responsible for development management on Marble Arch Place, with a particular focus on the commercial aspects of the scheme. Her day to day responsibilities involve the management of the scheme’s planning and legal obligations, ensuring the maximisation of the site’s development potential. Ria is also involved in reviewing the viability of new development opportunities.


Linda Flavell

Linda is a solicitor with over 20 years of legal experience working in the City practice Dechert LLP, acting for developers, funds and occupiers on large-scale commercial acquisitions, development projects and general asset management. Her work has involved all aspects of property development and investment work including joint ventures, cross-border corporate acquisitions and off-shore trust structures.

At Almacantar, she is responsible for the instruction, co-ordination and supervision of external legal advisors and has day to day responsibility for the management of legal aspects of Almacantar’s property portfolio.

Linda graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1988 with a BSc (Econ) Hons. She was admitted as a solicitor in 1993, prior to which she spent six months as a visiting associate attorney with a US law firm in Washington DC.

Lottie oversees sales for Almacantar’s latest development The Bryanston, Hyde Park, the residential component of Marble Arch Place. She works closely with the marketing and development teams to ensure the residences are delivered to an exceptionally high standard.

Prior to joining Almacantar in 2019, Lottie was an Associate Director at Savills, advising upon and selling some of the Home Counties’ finest country houses and estates, to and for domestic and international UHNW clients. She nurtured long standing client relationships from pitch to completion, developed marketing and pricing strategies and competently handled complex negotiations.

Lottie holds a degree from Newcastle University and is an Associate member of the RICS.

James Hislop

James leads on sales at Centre Point Residences and has experience in managing sales activity for prestigious residential projects in Central London.

James started his property career at Knight Frank, where he managed his own area in Guildford. In 2018 James joined Almacantar, coming from a boutique residential property developer based in Covent Garden, where he headed sales activity over several prime developments including two projects overlooking the Covent Garden Piazza.

Dawid leads on sales at Almacantar’s boutique development, Lyons Place, and has an exceptional focus on customer experience ensuring every viewing is tailored.

Dawid initially managed the residential analysis for Almacantar before moving on to lead on sales at Lyons Place. He is still actively involved in all aspects of Almacantar’s residential portfolio providing insight which helps drive sales strategies across the portfolio.

Dawid joined Almacantar in May 2017 after graduating from the University of Greenwich with First Class Honours in BA International Business.

Elle joined Almacantar in January 2017 after relocating from Australia. She has a passion for luxury interior design and over 13 years of customer service experience with a background in fashion design, visual merchandising, sales, hotel and restaurant management.

Elle’s role at Almacantar is to oversee the buyer experience, leading on organising the resources necessary to put together high quality sales presentations.

With a consumer-centric focus, Rachel’s role at Almacantar is to drive leads by executing tactical and innovative marketing strategies across Almacantar’s schemes, covering residential, retail and office uses.

Rachel joined Almacantar in 2018 from CBRE where she was a Project Lead in the Development Consultancy team, focussing on advising developers and housebuilders on strategic and forward-thinking sales and marketing plans both in the UK and overseas, right through from planning stages to post-launch.

Rachel has previously advised major developers including St George, Berkeley and CIT working closely on some of London’s most high-profile developments such as London Dock, One Blackfriars and Nine Elms Point.

Charlie oversees Almacantar’s digital strategies, leading on social media output and supporting marketing communications across all developments.

Charlie joined Almacantar in July 2018, shortly after graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a degree in Business and Marketing Management. Initially joining as Social Media Assistant, Charlie quickly widened her role to support the wider team with a focus on digital channels and event management. She is now significantly involved in the strategic direction of each development through to delivery and execution.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Laura brings a broad financial skill-set to Almacantar.

Laura is responsible for the management of the Group’s cash flow forecasting processes, as well as financial control, reporting and analysis for capital expenditure relating to Almacantar’s on-site property developments.

Previously, Laura worked in the financial reporting team at ING bank and as a regulatory analyst at Goldman Sachs. She graduated from the University of Otago in 2006 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 2009.
