Almacantar was last night granted planning permission by Camden Council for a new retail unit below the Link bridge of Centre Point, as part of its refurbishment for Centre Point on Tottenham Court Road.
The plans will enhance the new public square and the Centre Point area ahead of Crossrail’s 2018 completion.
Kathrin Hersel, Development Director at Almacantar said: “Almacantar is delighted to have been granted planning permission for a retail unit below the Link bridge of Centre Point. The introduction of a retail unit to the scheme will bring to life the new public square ahead of the completion of Crossrail in 2018, which will bring 56 million visitors to the area per year.
“The works will coincide with the extensive redevelopment of Centre Point, which will re-establish the iconic building as a landmark destination for London in an area that is radically transforming. The Centre Point redevelopment, providing a mix of retail, residential and a new public square will create a distinct destination hub for central London, where people are invited to socialise, eat and drink, shop and soak up the atmosphere.”
