Mike Hussey
Chief Executive

Driven by his fundamental belief that real property skills can deliver lasting value, Mike has long been one of the key players in the Central London property market. Since founding Almacantar in 2009, he has continued to build on his long track record of landmark transactions and developments – a track record that sees him held in good regard in the public capital markets.

Before founding Almacantar, Mike spent seven years at Land Securities plc, the largest property company in the UK. As an Executive Board Director he led a team of over 200 people with responsibility for the London and Strategic Land portfolios.

Prior to Land Securities, Mike spent five years as Head of Leasing and Marketing at Canary Wharf Group, where his team delivered transactions totalling 9.3m sq ft. Before that he was the youngest salaried partner at Knight Frank, where he specialised in development, investment and large occupier consultancy in Central London. He started his career at Edward Erdman.

Outside real estate Mike is a Trustee of The Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Governor of Southbank Centre Ltd, a Non-Executive Director of Martin’s Properties, a former Trustee of the Photographers’ Gallery and a key supporter of the London Air Ambulance.

Jonathan Paul
Finance Director

Originally joining Almacantar as Strategy Director in 2009, Jonathan became Finance Director in 2013, taking responsibility for all elements of the company’s finance function including reporting, corporate finance, treasury, tax and investor relations.

A qualified Chartered Surveyor, he started his career in 1989 with Edward Erdman and DTZ, advising on Central London development projects and large corporate occupiers.

He went on to become a real estate equity analyst with both Cazenove and ABN Amro, where he attained Starmine’s top ranking for UK stock picking and earnings forecasting in 2004 and 2005.

Kathrin Hersel
Executive Director

Responsible for the development functions at Almacantar, Kathrin draws on her extensive experience of mixed-use schemes in London and her in-depth understanding of the market to provide bespoke solutions for complex projects.

As Property Director she handles the management of the company’s entire portfolio and oversees all development activities including site assembly, planning, design, construction, residential marketing and sales.

Prior to joining Almacantar in 2012, Kathrin was Development Director at Land Securities where she worked on a range of transformational developments including One New Change, Wellington House and 20 Fenchurch Street.

Harry Chichester
Executive Director

A Chartered Surveyor with 20 years’ experience in fund and asset management in the London and UK markets, Harry oversees the handling of Almacantar’s investments and assets and the commercial leasing of the company’s pipeline developments.

Before joining Almacantar as Asset Director in 2011, he spent five years with real estate fund managers Invista, running the HBOS fund management team, responsible for £2.4bn of UK assets, and the company’s £2bn office sector portfolio in Central London and the UK.

Prior to that, Harry worked with property advisors including Jones Lang LaSalle, CB Hillier Parker and Healey & Baker in various investment agent and valuation roles. He holds a degree in Theology from Oxford University and a Masters in Land Management from Reading University.

Jonathan Evans
Asset Management and Leasing Director

Jonathan joined Almacantar in 2016, bringing over 30 years of experience in the development and leasing of mixed-use sites in Central London – both as an advisor and principal. Formerly responsible for the West End leasing teams at JLL and DTZ, he was also Head of Asset and Property Management for the London Office Portfolio at Land Securities. He has held senior posts for industry bodies including the Westminster Property Association, the Office Agents Society, and the BCO Research Board.

Gavin Sinnott
Project Director

Gavin has a wealth of experience guiding the successful execution of projects from feasibility through to delivery and occupation. Prior to joining Almacantar in 2016, he spent a decade at M3 Consulting working on numerous small fit-outs and large-scale mixed-use schemes including Broadgate Circle, One Carter Lane, 199 Bishopsgate, 100 Liverpool Street, Streatham Hub, Edmonton Green and Chapelfield Norwich. A Civil Engineering graduate, he began his career as a consulting engineer on brownfield mixed-use regeneration and infrastructure projects around the UK.

Geoff Taylor
Project Director

Geoff joined Almacantar in 2010 with a decade’s experience in structural design and a further 25 years in development and project management for client organisations. A Chartered Civil Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and a graduate of Harvard Business School, his former roles include Project Director at Land Securities, where he completed c£1.3bn of capital projects such as BBC Broadcasting House, and Director of Development and Construction for Wembley National Stadium.

James Waite
Project Director

James joined Almacantar in 2012 from Land Securities, where he was a Project Manager in its London Portfolio. Working on high-profile residential and commercial developments such as Victoria Transport Interchange, Wellington House and Kingsgate House, he led his team on all aspects of construction and stakeholder management to deliver exceptional results. A Chartered Surveyor by background, James previously worked for Jones Lang LaSalle delivering schemes for occupier and investor clients including Deutsche Bank, Bank of America, SWIP and Sun Microsystems.

Chris Ruffle
Project Director

Chris joined Almacantar in 2016 from Arcadis where he led its London Residential and Commercial Project Management teams. His role included the management of all aspects of construction – from inception to completion – of Land Securities’ flagship developments Kingsgate and 62 Buckingham Gate in Victoria. A Chartered Surveyor by background, his successful delivery of highly complex schemes for Arcadis and Almacantar has given him significant expertise in development, post-contract project management, project controls and contract administration, as well as a deep understanding of the London market.

Caroline Edwards
Development Director

Caroline specialises in the planning, design and delivery of large-scale mixed-use projects, bringing diverse stakeholders together to unlock a site’s maximum potential. Before joining Almacantar in 2018, she spent 12 years at the Aga Khan University where she managed the establishment of new sites across East Africa and South Asia, including a 3,200-acre regional campus and ‘university town’ in Tanzania and a 600-bed Tertiary Teaching Hospital in Uganda. Caroline holds a degree in Urban Studies from Brown University and a Masters in Urban Planning from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.

Brooke Collins
Development Manager

Brooke joined Almacantar as a graduate in 2016 and secured her membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2018. Working across the full spectrum of development from planning, design, construction, and handover to sales, she has a particular specialism for complex mixed-use developments. Responsible for the management of Almacantar’s boutique residential development Lyons Place, Brooke oversaw the design and dressing of two show homes, one of which won Best Interior Design at the UK Property Awards.

Ria Hardy
Development Manager

Ria joined Almacantar in 2017 and obtained her chartership in 2019. Immersed in all aspects of the Central London property sector, she has been involved in Almacantar’s most complex projects – most notably Marble Arch Place where she has taken responsibility for managing the planning and legal obligations relating to the scheme. Holder of a first-class Masters degree in Planning and Real Estate, she is also involved in reviewing the viability of new development opportunities.

Peter Critchley
General Counsel

Peter has overall responsibility for the legal function at Almacantar, including the instruction and supervision of external legal advisers. Peter also acts as company secretary for the Group.

Prior to joining Almacantar, Peter was a corporate lawyer in the London office of international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, where he advised clients in a range of sectors on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and general corporate and commercial transactions. Whilst at Norton Rose Fulbright, Peter also spent time on secondment at Goldman Sachs and BNP Paribas.

Peter holds a BSc from the University of Bristol and a GDL and LPC from BPP University.

Linda Flavell
In-house Solicitor

Before joining Almacantar, Linda spent more than 20 years at Dechert LLP, acting for property developers, funds and occupiers on large-scale commercial acquisitions, development projects and general asset management. At Almacantar, she is responsible for the instruction, coordination and supervision of the company’s external legal advisors and manages the legal aspects of its property portfolio. A graduate in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, she was admitted as a solicitor in 1993.

Lottie Geaves
Sales Director

Prior to joining Almacantar in 2019, Lottie was an Associate Director at Savills, advising on and selling some of the finest country houses and estates in the Home Counties. Nurturing long-standing relationships with domestic and international UHNW clients from pitch to completion, she had responsibility for developing marketing and pricing strategies and handling complex negotiations. At Almacantar, Lottie oversees sales for The Bryanston at Marble Arch Place working closely with the marketing and development teams to ensure the residences are delivered to an exceptionally high standard.

James Hislop
Sales Director

Before joining in 2018 James was Head of London Sales for a boutique residential property developer based in Covent Garden. At Almacantar he manages sales activity for one of the company’s most prestigious residential projects – Centre Point Residences – where he has transacted at an average level of £3,000 per square foot, adding measurable value to the area. James started his property career at Knight Frank, where he managed his own area in Guildford.

Dawid Dziegielewski
Sales Manager

Dawid joined Almacantar in May 2017 after gaining a first-class degree in International Business. His initial responsibility was for the analysis of the company’s residential portfolio, providing insights to help drive sales strategies. While he remains actively involved in analytical work, Dawid now leads on sales for the company’s boutique residential development at Lyons Place. He takes a particular pride in providing an exceptional customer experience by ensuring that each viewing is individually tailored to the potential buyer.

Rachel joined Almacantar in 2018 from CBRE where she advised major developers including St George, Berkeley and CIT on the creation and execution of strategic and forward-thinking sales and marketing plans. This saw her involved – from planning to post-launch – in the marketing of some of London’s most high-profile developments including London Dock, One Blackfriars and Nine Elms Point. At Almacantar Rachel drives sales leads across the portfolio – residential, retail and office – by devising and conducting innovative and tactically astute marketing strategies.

Charlie Boardman
Marketing Manager

Charlie oversees Almacantar’s digital strategies, leading on the company’s social media output and supporting all of its marketing communications and event management activities. Since joining Almacantar in July 2018, she has become integral to the design, delivery and execution of the marketing plan for each development. She holds a degree in Business and Marketing Management from Oxford Brookes University.
